Hi, my name is Vyvian Kieu Vy. As a pre-medical student, I am always going crazy trying to pass Organic Chem test, or calculating what grade I need to get on the next physics exam so I don't fail (haha!). Aside from my school life, I love singing and acting...or talking nonstop in hopes of making others laugh. The truth is, it's hard for people to imagine a comedic, talkative busy-bee like me to ever be sad. But I'm human too! There are times where I feel like a failure, times I want to run away from everything. But I look back at the life I have; the love all around me- the phone calls my mother furiously makes when she hasn't heard from me in two hours, the meals on the table cooked for me by my grandmother, the text message from my daddy asking me if I want to go to lunch with him. And I'm reminded of how fortunate I am. Fortunate, to be living in wealth of not necessarily money or materials, but of Love. Through New Mexico Lotus Foundation, I wish to share that wealth of mine. During our first mission trip back to Vietnam in 2013, as I looked into the children's eyes, I hoped that my love would make a difference in their lives and they sure did assure me that it did. As anonymously stated in Buddhism (translated by myself): "Splitting sorrow into two leaves you with half the pain. Splitting happiness into two brings you double the happiness."
“The only thing worse than being blind, is having sight but no vision.” - Helen Keller Hello! I'm Richard Au. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. What inspires me the most is to see human beings overcome situations that at times may seem impossible to conquer. I believe that surpassing these difficult events really show the incredible strengths of individuals. That is why I have made it my mission to stand behind those who are constantly working towards making their dreams become reality. This is why I joined Lotus, because not only do I want to inspire people to be more than who they are, I want to leave an impact in the world that is so big that it drives people to work even harder to achieve any goal they may have. I want to spread the message that life is not about reacting to the cards that have been dealt in our lives but life is about living your dreams and doing everything you can to create the life that you want. What is a better way to start but to give the hope back to those who need it most.
For a while, I worked as a PR consultant to emerging musicians and bands in Nashville. I wanted to transition into the nonprofit sector and be involved in the sustainable movement. Project Sprout is my first venture into the field, and I couldn’t be happier. I still have a strong commitment to the music industry and sometimes combine both skill sets by planning and hosting fundraising shows at our larger gardens.
